How will Global Development programming support African farmers increase incomes through agriculture?

According to the World Economic Forum, 70% of Africans make a living through agriculture, and technology could increase farmers’ incomes substantially.  Technology is any tool or practice that allows increased volume and/or enhanced quality and most times reduces the time it takes to complete tasks.

The following are some technologies that were embedded into projects that I managed while in Africa that brought an increase in income for smallholder farm families:

2.       Cover Crops

africa farming

5.       Paravets

These technologies involved showing farmers how to use the new innovation through demos and making the information and tools available for up-take locally.  It also required working with input suppliers, government actors, and local manufacturers to ensure that once the technology was adopted, the farmers could access it locally for an affordable price.

What type of technologies or innovations has your global organization used to help farmers increase incomes?  Have you used any of the five listed?
